El Carrizal Mexican Restaurant & Cantina: Authentic Mexican Cuisine and Generous Portions

After visiting El Carrizal, my family has officially broke up with our usual Mexican restaurant. We sat in the outdoor area and it was beautiful! Chips and salsa were the best that we have had, the queso.. I mean you can’t mess up queso! The meal portions were amazing compared to others in the area. Service was wonderful as well. Pricing was similar to other restaurants in the area. We will be back!

Amazing service. Generous portions. Great tasting food. We had a long day of driving and were looking for a Mexican restaurant to try along route. So glad we ended up here.

We were in Falkville for a baseball tournament and had a break between games. My grandson loves Mexican food so we went here. We weren't sure if it was open, but shortly after we got there, several gross of people came in. The food was fantastic (including the chips & salsa!), and our server was wonderful! He checked on us regularly to see if we needed anything. The interior decor is really inviting, seating was comfortable, there were 2 mounted TVs with sports games on, and best of all - our meal arrived very quickly! Super important when you have another baseball game to get to. We ABSOLUTELY will be back - it was a very nice surprise and only 8 minutes from the fields!

Food portions are amazing for a restaurant like this. If you told me they were serving food at a loss, I’d believe it. My only gripe is that our service was a bit slow. Not back breakingly so though so I’m still giving them a 5.

Awesome place, delicious authentic food with great portion sizes, margaritas are a little on the high side price wise but mannnnn they are awesome! The staff is amazing and friendly! The only thing I could recommend is to get some things that hold babies in car seats so people in groups with a baby can sit them down without having to take a chair or place in a booth or sitting them up on the table itself. 5/5

If you live in or near Hartselle, or are traveling through, I found a great Mexican restaurant for you. I am very picky about Mexican food. Well, let's be honest. I am picky about food, in general. But, my sister had been telling me about this place. So, we met for my sister's birthday. The salsa is on good. It ranks among some of the better ones i have tried. But, the queso bean dip was on point. It was something new for me. I had the nacho supreme. It was very good. The food was fresh and well-prepared. The atmosphere is very clean and well decorated. The staff is quick to respond. I would definitely add this to your list if you need a fresh and tasty Mexican spot to eat consistently good food in a fun environment.

This resturant is new to the area, my family and I have been waiting to go for awhile. We loved the decor, it was very clean and everyone very friendly. We waited awhile for the food, we ordered a kids plate enchilada and veggie fajitas im not sure the beans were vegan or vegetarian friendly but the beans were probably our favorite of all. The veggie fajitas looked so good when they came out but had no flavor or seasonings on it at all, the salsa was kind of bland too. Pricing seemed to be a little high as well.

Won't order to go again. The food is great and always warm until I get it home. But today I learned they are charging me for the to-go plates they put the food in as a seperate charge. Who ever thought of being charged to pick your own food to go? Imagine if all restaurants put an extra charge for you to pick it up or go thru a drive thru.
